With the Royal Parents in town, I have taken a few days off for a few day trips as well as general sloth. Yesterday, we traveled up to Brenham to take the Bluebell Creamery tour. Although the tours were all booked when we arrived, that did not stop us from each procuring a souvenir cup of ice cream.

Then we took a quick jaunt up to the Birthplace of Texas. We enjoyed the visitors center and I'm sure they enjoyed our efforts to fiscally stabilize their gift shop.

We also picked up two geocashes in the park. The first was right outside the visitor's center. The second required a lovely walk down a beautiful trail.

beautiful trail

I just had to post this picture because I love how the lush green path and wildflowers strike such a drastic contrast to the tintype hues of the tall grass on either side. The way the shadows play from the setting sun also make this an intriguing image – at least to me. It looks even better at full resolution.

We have more excursions scheduled for the beautiful weather we have been given today, and hopefully tomorrow. No point in sitting behind a computer working or blogging when I don’t have to.
