It turns out we've been feeding thousands without even knowing it. Unfortunately, their snacking has a direct structural impact on the Castle. It all started last Sunday afternoon. It was a rushed day and I laid down on my bed to catch just a few moments of respite. When I opened my eyes, I saw spots. On the ceiling. And I knew immediately what the problem was. Regrettably, I also had a very complete understanding of what the solution would entail.

The good news is that repairs are not necessary at this point. The other good news is that we decided to be friendly to the environment and to the kids who play in our yard and not attempt to control our little problem with the pesticide barrier method. Instead we opted for a bait system which will eliminate the colony with the least environmental impact. The bad news is that the best option is of course the most expensive.

I guess termites eat your house...until you find them, and then they eat your savings account.
