A few months ago, Libya joined the 1993 treaty banning chemical weapons and opened their programs up for inspection by the OPCW. The development, immediately following the removal of Saddam Hussein, received minimal press. The findings of the inspectors should open a few eyes:
International inspectors have completed their inventory of Libya's chemical weapons stockpiles, reporting more than 20 tons of mustard gas and the materials to make thousands of tons of sarin nerve gas, the world's watchdog organization said Monday. They are also working on dismantling their nuclear weapons program. This is another major victory in the war on terror. It still amazes me that key liberal leaders have made claims that the world is no safer since Saddam is no longer in power. It seems they simply have failed to examine the evidence.
