About 81 percent of Arkansas households are "food insecure," meaning they don't have reliable access to food, according to an anti-hunger group in Arkansas. The national rate is 70 percent, the Arkansas Hunger Relief Alliance says.Source. I guess it all depends on how you define reliable access to food. By the way, later in the same article, it states that 12% of Americans reported having difficulty providing enough food at least once in 2004, a much more credible statistic. The source of that statistic is the USDA. The source of the silly statistic is America's Second Harvest, a non-profit food relief agency. I have no problem with that organization. From what I've seen, their outreach skills far exceed their math skills. They do great work mobilizing food relief resources and delivering them. Just don't have them do your taxes.
