This just in:

The universe looks like the Eiffel Tower topped with a never-ending spire, a German physicist said Wednesday.

I had to look at pictures of the tower so I could visualize the universe. It seems to me that if you inverted the tower, you end up with a funnel. Thus the ET theory is proposing that the universe is a funnel who's spout extends infinitely. (I think that is easier to picture than the Eiffel Tower analogy, but I have a good spatial imagination.)

This concept is a marked change from the last theory:

Earlier models, such as one in which the cosmos looks like a huge football, have been widely disputed by physicists.

The NFL is expected to file suit.
