Yuletide Joy
Some people have let me know that am pretty stingy with my own personal information. I thought I would counter this argument with a few deep dark secret facts from the soul of the King:
*I cannot conceive of a more vile form of musical terrorism than this.
UPDATE: The following might help you understand where I am coming from:

I need to hear the difference to get what you mean by Silent Night in 4/4 time. I know what that means but I don’t know what it does to the song.

It ruins it. The song was written in 3/4 time and should sound like a waltz. What a 4/4 arrangement does is add an extra beat in there which 1. completely messes up the natural rhythm of the song and 2. allows the artist to add lots of unnecessary flourishes.
Many of the modern arrangments by well known singers use 4/4 because it allows them to show off their voice more...something that is so utterly consistent with the purpose of the song.
