I heard it said just this weekend (while in OKC visiting The Jack, by the way) that pastors are like fertilizer. Put them all together and they just stink. But, spread them around and they can do a whole lot of good! As far as cell phones go… it’s my only phone. But, I’ve learned to “set boundaries” (a.k.a. screen my calls!)
As long as you don’t answer the phone in a restaurant while eating with me and carry on a 20 minute conversation while I pick at my food and feel stupid...I can live with that.
So many of them have NO consideration for anyone else. I’ve often wondered how much of that may be the fault of their congregations. I mean, really, if you think about it ... everyone approaches them with respect and deference all the time, like they’re always the most important person in the room. It’d be hard to not let that go to your head!
On the other hand, the horror stories I could tell you about Pastors calling tech-support! Cursing and rudeness you wouldn’t believe! (Careful not to hyperventilate—I used to do tech-support back before I needed all my brain-cells to memorize Sesame Street songs. I was good at it, too. No one could manage the criers and old-people like me!)
