Light me up!
Ok. I’ll bite. What is a “security awareness training course”? Because a lot of things come to mind, and most likely are no-where near the truth!
For example, I have a brother and a few cousins who were rather ... militant ... about me being aware of security concerns when I started dating.
I had a friend who refused to move into an apartment near the mall because the parking lot was too dark for me to stop by and visit.
Once upon a time, in a galaxy far away, Sam’s stalker brought us all to new levels of thought about “security”. She still automatically sits with a view to the door of restaurents.
And after living with Rae in college, I know where my car-keys are at all times (seriously, haven’t lost them in decades) because her father was ... unstable ... and the car was the best quickest way to ensure security. I used to keep an evac-backpack in the car, but I’ve been slacking on getting the new-to-us vehicle organized.
Plus, my personal piece-de-reistance! In a few years I’ll have no fewer then four (count them, FOUR) black-belts living with me! Now THAT’S a lot of security!
It was a delightful education course I was required to take for work to know how to keep our company’s information assets safe from hackers and malware and bad people. In it we learned all sorts of important facts like:
- hackers talk in a low raspy voice and wear hoods so you can’t see their hair
- if someone calls you and says you’ve won an iPod or other valuable prize, it actually might not be true
- most data loss actually comes from disgruntled employees (which is wrong, but I would think gruntleing them a bit would also be a good policy)
Each section had a quiz and then there was a final test, which was multiple choice. And sometimes on a multiple choice test they give one crazy answer that you can rule out to help a little, but not with this test. With this test, 3 of the 4 answers were crazy, and I managed to pull a 100%. (You could take it 5 times if you needed to.)
And they said the word “Human Firewall” about 112 times. (I kept thinking ‘stop, drop and roll’ every time they said it)
Question: If you are a Human Firewall (tm) doesn’t that mean that you’ll burn out and lose your gruntle more quickly?
