Things may look just a little different here. I procured Expression Engine about 6 months ago, but just now found the time to make the switch. Templating and importing are relatively easy, but I did not want to lose my existing trackbacks. So I spent some time making a special 404 page for my old MT archives directory which redirects incoming links for old MT posts to the corresponding EE post. (Unfortunately this does not work for the RSS feeds.)
I’m obviously not done and if you look closely, you will see plenty of rough edges. If you notice something that you think needs work, please feel free to note it in the comments section (which I do realize is not as intuitive as it was before...but I’m working on that too). Post a comment would also help me test the comments and maybe someone might like to set up a member account or send me a trackback.
Thanks.
I can’t believe you’re making me type this twice, blind. First, if I make a mistake on the submit-form then when I go back to add my email address for example, it completely erases my previously typed comment and I have to start voer. Second, I can only see a little slice of the column in the middle as the edges disappear under the columns on the left and right. That was my original problem, but NOTHING irritates me like having my comments erased in a fit of techno-effieciency. Its like fingernails on a chalk bard. Third, I would have loved to have emailed youwith my problem and feedback but I can’t find your email button thingy. Which is OK, except then what do people do that are having problems with the comments?
Obviously typing blind is not a problem for you, Lucy!
I worked on reformatting the comments and making them appear on the same page as the post (and making the index link to them here). I have not had a chance to investigate the preview/post-error losing the content of the comment.
But I’m trying! (I would hate to lose you as a commenter for issues such as these!)
The post kinda appears and disappears when I scroll down then back up. Sometimes parts of it dissappear, from the bottom up, sometimes the whole thing.
Wow. I certainly sounded cranky. I can only plead that I don’t sleep while my husband is out of town. I suppose, literally, I get about three hours of sleep per day-cycle.
Besides, have you learned nothing about women!?! LOL. Like I would think “Oh yeah, I am SO irritated with his commenting system that I’m going to leave him alone in peace and quiet.” At my house, irritation definitely doesn’t lead to peace and quiet. My husband will laugh about that for weeks, maybe even years
Are we supposed to register/log-in? And how is “location” different from “url”? Just wondering.
If you can modify .htaccess (Apache server), you can redirect those feeds!
in .htaccess on www root:
Redirect index.rdf http://king-of-fools.com/index.php/weblog/rss_1.0/ [R=301]
Redirect index.xml http://king-of-fools.com/index.php/weblog/rss_2.0/ [R=301]
Redirect atom.xml http://king-of-fools.com/index.php/weblog/rss_atom/ [R=301]
Let me know if you need help!
Thanks, Mark! I need to read up on .htaccess because it seems to be rather powerful. But that worked perfectly (at least once I added a leading slash to the incoming file names).
.htaccess is extremely powerful, especially if you have mod_rewrite. You can basically run a regular expression on the requested URI and redirect it however you like.
What is the difference between the Member category groups --i.e. Members vs. Underlings?
Members are people who want to sign up so they can post (although I am leaving posting open to non members as well as long as they leave an email address. At least until the spam gets too severe.)
Underlings are my guest posters...The Jack and The Ace.

This is the excerpt of the trackback. Woe is me to be so unfortunate to have no friends to trackback nor to find this post so unworthy that I am relegated to tracking myself back, and from the same post at that.
