Invasion
About mid-morning, the Queen (May She Live Forever) looked out the kitchen window and saw this:

Keep in mind that the pinecone in the picture is roughly 6 4" long.

Bees can be a serious concern here in Southeast Texas, because of this. (Basically, it is a good idea to leave all bee handling to the experts.)

UPDATE: As of 2:30pm, they are gone. (Well, actually there are a few bees still buzzing around the branch they were attached to. My guess is they can still smell the queen there and will stay there looking for her until they die. It is so sad that so often women have that very effect on men.)

OH man! I came to visit and wow, I am runnin’ skerd because I am highly allergic!
That is just the scariest thing I’ve seen all day!
(No, I’ve not looked in the mirror yet.)

See, this is why you live in the North.  We have lots of snow and rain, but no killer bees!

When I lived in Texas I thought the fire ants were bad ... but I was there before the killer bees got there.

What do you mean “they’re gone”? Did you kill them? If not, why not? How could you let that menace roam free? Freaking liberal tree-hugging hippy!

BTW, my husband walked through the room and added “hmmm, maybe they’re in the attic!”

Then, he said “tell them I’m kidding”. I’m sure he had visions of you being forced into the attic to investigate! (Which I think would be entirely reasonable!)

They left.  They went somewhere else, although I know not where. (We weren’t watching them the whole time!)

However, there is a wierd barking coming either from the attic or the drain spout.  I’m thinking it is another squirrel.
