Two notable developments have emerged in the 'godblogging' community: First, Evangelical Underground is hosting the 1st Annual Evangelical Blog Awards. Categories include:

• Best Overall Evangelical Blog
• Best Designed Evangelical Blog
• Best Evangelical Blog-Politics
• Best Evangelical Blog-Ministry
• Best International Evangelical Blog
• Best Domestic Evangelical Blog (U.S.)
• Best Evangelical Blog-Apologetics
• Best Evangelical Blog-Pastor
• Best New Evangelical Blog
• Best Evangelical Blog-Humor

Nominations are open until February 14th and can be submitted via email. Voting begins on the 16th and winners will be announced on the 18th.

The other is that smartchristian.com has proposed GodBlogCon, a blogging convention for "God Bloggers". A significant 61 bloggers have already indicated interest. Only 9 from Texas so far, and as proud as I am that Joe Carter is a lone star resident, I do find it bit disturbing that Adrian Warnock is also in that list.

If it is at all possible, I would like to attend this event. There is no date for the conference yet and the preliminary location is Arizona, although that too may change by the time things are finalized. One major plus is that the Keynote speaker will be Hugh Hewitt. (Rumor has it that you don't even have to be a blogger to participate...the only prerequisite is that you have purchased and read Hugh's latest offering: Blog.)
