Filming has begun for a TV series which will examine how a community copes without women for seven days. The villagers of Harby, near Lincoln, are taking part in The Week The Women Went, commissioned by BBC Three. The men will be left to fill the domestic and community roles of village life, while their wives, mothers and sisters enjoy a mini-break.Hmmm. It does sound like an interesting experiment, although not one I would enjoy participating in. Right now it takes two of us working all day to keep the castle in order; losing the Queen (May she Stay Forever) for an extended time period would be a double-edged sword. My work load would double and my primary stress relief would be missing. Sounds like a bad deal to me.
My husband claims to be lost without me when I have to be gone for several days. I’m sure he can get along fine without me, but it feels good to be missed so much!
By the way, very cool blog name. Does it by chance have anything to do with the Delirous album of the same name?
I am very familiar with Delirious and know of the album by this same name, but the real reason behind my name is explained here.
I too am completely lost without my lovely wife, and it is very nice to have someone to depend on. (Someone dependable no less!)
I read your explanation, KoF...got it. Very cool.
I always liked the quirky old guy on the cover of the Delirious album.
Regardless of the results of this ‘study,’ the most impressive finding is that there are still people who believe there’s actually a difference between men and women, and who can tell them apart. Amazing.
Last week my husband was getting a little aggressive about “just deal with it, push through it, get over it” which is his fearful response to me being sick. He told me to push the doctors because “this” (me being too sick to do much cooking/cleaning/etc) couldn’t continue as it was too inconvienent. I wish I could describe the horror that crossed his face when I suggested that the other option was eight months of total bed-rest! In effect, he’d be on his own for eight months!
I agree. Today’s culture seems so focused on complete equality, and tends to neglect the fact that the sexes have different natural aptitudes and desires. (Plus I’m a conniseur of the feminine attributes my wife possesses. So glad she isn’t male!)
We have some close friends from church and she is pregnant with triplets. She has been out of commission for a while and will be until they are born. (And at that point they will be overrun with critters so it is not like life will get any easier for a long time.)
It has been pretty rough because she can’t cook or clean or do anything. Fortunately, there are folk who are helping out - otherwise the Father would definitely not make it.
Can. NOT. Imagine. Triplets.
MUST. Not. Imagine. Triplets ...
