My biggest concern is the 3 weblog and 1 author limitation on the free version. I use three weblogs to generate this site (blog, blogroll, booklist) and have several other projects on the back burner (quotes, mini-blog) which would use additional blog definitions in MT. Here is a wonderful clarification on the MT3 license which allows me to breathe a big sigh of relief:
What is a "weblog" defined as? What if I have multiple "Weblogs" in Movable Type all used to create 1 site? This solves half of my problem. The other half is the multiple author business. Although some of my readers might not consider The Jack (who posts maybe 6 times a year) an author, I do. The free version is limited to one author. The question of what a "weblog" is is somewhat muddy, but the basic answer to the first question is that, if you're using multiple "Weblogs" in Movable Type in order to build 1 site, that only counts as 1 weblog towards the license limits.
In our licenses, we now address this with this language: "Weblog" means a single Web site viewable at a single URL (Uniform Resource Locator), consisting of one or more weblogs as generated by the Software via the "Create New Weblog" function of the Software.
To be clear, sub-weblogs that make up weblog sites shouldn't be counted toward your weblog total.
My options are:
- Stick with MT 2.661
- Wait for MT 3.0 to Change This License
- Pay for MT 3.0
- Move to WordPress
One question for you WordPress people out there...I know how Google works when it indexes a site with static pages. How does it work with a WordPress site where content is generated on demand?
