Need some job security? Your best bet is to serve as a laywer for retail giant Wal-Mart, as you will never run out of work:
Backed by abortion rights groups, three Massachusetts women sued Wal-Mart on Wednesday, accusing the retail giant of violating a state regulation by failing to stock emergency contraception pills in its pharmacies.Yes, these enterprising women have opened up a new front in the WOW (War on Wal-mart). Nevermind that they can buy abortive drugs at the CVS across the street. This is a principled stand taken by the critics of "Big Retail" to only buy their morning-after pills from the house that Sam Walton built...and to boycott all their other products. Wal-Mart's response?
Fogleman said the company "chooses not to carry many products for business reasons." He would not elaborate. But in a letter to a lawyer for the plaintiffs, a Wal-Mart attorney said the store chain does not regard the drug as "commonly prescribed."Actually, this may help me out. After all, it is kind of inconvenient to have to go to the trouble and expense of mail order service just to get ahold of some Dublin Dr. Pepper. Perhaps suing the local Wal-Mart into stocking it may help me out. Actually, it would be even more convenient for me if the local quickshop carried it instead...and if they made deliveries...for free...whenever I'm thirsty...without asking. By the way, Rob uncovered another extremely amusing Wal-Mart story in today's news. (I'm still laughing about it.)
