General Land Commissioner Jerry Patterson and Congressman Ron Paul are very active in the Republican Liberty Caucus. When Patterson spoke this evening, I was struck by this quote:

The Bill of Rights does not give rights - it merely enumerates them. If government can 'give' rights, then it can also take them away. The founders understood that rights are granted by God and merely acknowledged by government.
