The Katrina damage in Mississippi is actually worse than that in New Orleans. However, it is the displacement of such a large city that has made relief efforts so difficult. The next round of difficulties will be dealing with housing and employment for former residents of the 'Big Easy'.

A friend pointed out Katrina Volunteer & Housing Opportunities and I was overwhelemed as I read offers of housing and assistance from all over the United States and even from Canada. If you need encouragement or have something to offer, I suggest you take a look at the site.

The biggest difficulty is that these offers are not making their way to those who need them. If you can help advertise this or if you have an inside channel to someone who can help get this information into the hands of those who can get it to the needy, please do it.
