In a 70-page ruling, U.S. District Judge Shira A. Scheindlin said the league's draft-eligibility rule, which prohibits a player from entering the draft until three years after high school, violates antitrust laws.
I do not understand how this violates anti-trust laws; it does not seem that far removed from Child Labor laws. I do understand that this means the NFL is no longer allowed to make rules. Perhaps the Judge would also like to make a ruling on the use of Instant Replay or Sudden-Death Overtime? (Both could be construed as cruel and unusual punishment!)
One thing I do know is that if that rule is invalid, would not these also be improper:
No person except a natural born citizen, or a citizen of the United States, at the time of the adoption of this Constitution, shall be eligible to the office of President; neither shall any person be eligible to that office who shall not have attained to the age of thirty five years, and been fourteen Years a resident within the United States.
The right of citizens of the United States, who are 18 years of age or older, to vote, shall not be denied or abridged by the United States or any state on account of age.
