After 9/11/2001, there were a number of memorial services across the United States. One of the most memorable images from that difficult time was of a young girl sitting on her father's shoulders in a crowd of people and holding an American flag. The picture recently appeared on a billboard, and John Hawkins documents the negative response it has evoked in some Americans.
