Michael Goodwin writes about spending a day listening to Air America Radio. No need to rehash what he heard there...you can get that from him if you are interested. What is more interesting is the last two paragraphs of the article:
During a day of torture by radio, I heard ads for Hewlett-Packard, Greyhound and, especially, General Motors. I asked GM why it appeared in such shows. With the loss of affiliates, CEOs and now sponsors...the end is near for this experiment.Ryndee Carney, GM's manager of marketing communications, said the ads were wrongly picked up from an earlier deal with WLIB. She said the station was ordered to "cease and desist" yesterday, and added: "GM will not advertise on any Air America affiliates."
The responsibility for their failure has nothing to do with the VRWC. It must rest soley upon their hosts. They had an opportunity to create a media outlet where liberal views could be presented, discussed and refined in a coherent manner. Instead, they created a monster of juvenile humor and insults. I hope they had fun while it lasted.
