Just minutes after I posted this impeccable logic, John Kerry calls George W. Bush and concedes the election.
Coincidence? Maybe, but I sure hope he read my suggested concession speech!
UPDATE: I'm watching the Johns give their speeches. Earlier reports talked about Kerry telling Bush we need heal the divide in this nation. Edwards pre-concession speech mentioned that even though this battle was lost, they would never stop fighting. Now Kerry mentions that he told the President that it was necessary to overcome the divide in the nation.
Just normal politics, folks. Translation: "We will fight for our side, but the President sure needs to heal these divisions - by reaching out to our side."
I thought Edwards was boy-wonderesque in his enthusiasm, and his speech was designed to pump up the base but it was not really appropriate to the occasion. However, Kerry did a good job in his statements and his elaborate thank yous. I do believe he excels in all the skills required of a Senator; but I maintain he lacks the leadership to be President. He is a good consensus player, but Bush is the man I want making the tough decisions that require resolve.
Of course, my opinions are now unprovable, which is fine by me. I am pleased that Kerry was man enough to conceed, and double pleased that the margins were not contestable.
