Last week, I pointed out the Planned Parenthood Christmas Card in this post. I found a picture of the card and figured it was worth displaying. (Yes, I am assuming that most of my readers will not be receiving one of these in the mail this year.)
I was surprised at how ugly the card really is. I'm not talking about the message making the card ugly. It could say "Peace on Earth" or even "God Bless Babies On Earth" and I still wouldn't send this card to anyone, at least not anyone I liked. Seriously, if you were in a store looking at all the available Christmas cards, is this the one you would pick?
I understand that you can't put most the traditional Christmas themes on a card like this. A baby in a manger on a Planned Parenthood card is just not going to fly. Still, there are lots of other possible visuals that could be used. A snowflake. A starry night. (One star wouldn't work, but lots of stars would be fine.) A snowy tree.
The only reasonable explanation that I can come up with is that they did not want the visuals to distract from the message behind the card.
