Dowingba talks about what it was like to grow up Canadian, and the evolution of his attitudes towards his southern neighbor:
I am Canadian. I was born and raised in Canada. I have never in my life set foot outside of Canada.

I don't remember at what age, or the details surrounding it, but I remember a point in my life when I learned that I wasn't American. Before this, I did not know that I wasn't American. It might be hard for an American to understand this, so I'll attempt to explain.

Go read the whole thing. There is definitely something for Americans and non-Americans alike to learn from Dowingba's journey.

*You should also check out his reaction to the Rosemary Esmay fiasco.
