It is 1:18pm, CST and I'm already tired of the constant DNC and media claims that the "Younger Voters" will decide this election. Just heard it three times in the last 10 minutes on two different channels.
It is the people who vote (regardless of their age) who will decide this election.
I understand that the Kerry campaign is counting on young first-time voters to give them the edge in Ohio and Florida. I think there are two reasons why this kind of hope is ill placed. First, the young voters are not the only demographic that is fired up about this election. Second, it would not be possible to choose a more unreliable demographic.
I'm not saying that they will not turn out. I'm just saying I will believe it when I see it. Honestly, I hope everyone turns out. Voting is important. Important enough that I get to endure Jury Duty next week in exchange for the priviledge.
