It looks like Yassir Arafat is now clinically dead. Although this was not marked as a stop on the 'Roadmap to Peace', I believe it is an essential step toward the security of both Israel and the Palistinians.

I do not believe Arafat set up a line of succession intentionally as a self-defense mechanism. It will be interesting to see who will emerge to lead (we pray) the Palistinian Authority. I am as optimistic as I have ever been (which isn't really saying too much) with Israel's pull out of Gaza, the construction of the wall and now a true leadership change in the PA.

Although Bush refused to deal with Arafat, I believe he will immediately begin discussions with Arafat's successor.
